Water is one of the world’s most valuable resources, and in cleanroom environments, it plays a critical role in hygiene, processing, and textile care. At CWS Cleanrooms and STAXS®, water stewardship is not only an operational requirement but a core pillar of our sustainability strategy.
Across all cleanroom production sites, we apply strict water management standards designed to prevent environmental contamination and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Every site carefully monitors water consumption and wastewater discharge, continuously tracking parameters such as pH, chemical concentrations, and temperature. This systematic monitoring ensures transparency, compliance, and continuous optimization.
In addition, each plant maintains robust procedures for spill prevention, emergency response, and water reuse, ensuring that risk is minimized and environmental impact is controlled at all times.
Most of our facilities already operate advanced water treatment systems that significantly reduce freshwater demand. By recycling and purifying water through eco‑friendly washing programs, we achieve measurable reductions in wastewater, energy use, and chemical consumption, all while maintaining the highest hygiene standards required in cleanroom environments.
These harmonized programs are designed not only to protect the environment but also to increase process efficiency, enabling us to do more with less.
Our sustainability efforts extend beyond direct water savings. Through intelligent heat‑recovery systems, our Burghausen facility reuses thermal energy from the cooling process to preheat up to 9,000 liters of water every day. This reduces reliance on natural gas, lowers emissions, and contributes indirectly to our overall water‑related resource efficiency.
These types of innovations demonstrate how smart engineering can positively influence both energy and water footprints at the same time.
In 2024 alone, we repaired 250,000 textiles, resulting in 75,000 kg of waste avoided, and significantly reducing the need for water-intensive manufacturing of new garments. This circular approach extends the life of materials, reduces environmental pressure, and supports more sustainable cleanroom operations.
Our journey toward reduced water consumption is ongoing. With every optimization, from treatment technologies to process redesign, we strengthen our commitment to environmental stewardship. More importantly, we aim to set new industry standards for responsible water use in cleanroom services.
Because water doesn’t just sustain our operations, it sustains life. And protecting it is protecting our future.
