Bevrijdingsdag, or Liberation Day, is celebrated May 5th to mark the end of World War II in the Netherlands. On this day in 1945, the German forces officially surrendered, and the country was liberated after five long years of occupation. Since then, Liberation Day has grown into a national celebration of freedom, democracy, and the importance of protecting human rights for future generations. Throughout the country, festivals, ceremonies, and moments of reflection remind us that freedom should never be taken for granted.
